Sunday trip to Port Allan

Eschewing any thoughts of the Twa Brigs Race, seven boats launched for a trip to Port Allan, accompanied by the safety boat. A F2-3 easterly was blowing, and with the flood tide everyone made good progress. So good that, in order to have a rendezvous and to avoid too much mud at Port Allan in lower water, a half-hour heave to/beaching took place at Flisk Point.

At Port Allan, in glorious sunshine, all sailors enjoyed their picnics after negotiating the channel through the reeds up to the quay.

After about an hour, the fleet then departed, more or less on High Water, beating into the easterly breeze, and arrived back at the Club around 1730 hrs. A pleasant and fulfilling day! (Thanks go to Michael Kidd and John Stenhouse for directions and safety boat cover).
